From the office window - 20 feet off the ground
Pilot Tom Hawkins looks out of his 'office' window 20 feet from the ground. This Mk IV Stirling of 624 Squadron was based at Blida, North Africa in 1944. Note the perspex nose of this mark of Stirling. The front gun turret was removed to allow better observation and map reading for supply dropping on moonlight nights.
